Allenwood is a village immersed in history and culture, situated as it is in the Bog of Allen, adjacent to the Grand Canal. The Allenwood Powerstation Tower may no longer dominate the skyline but it continues to exercise an influence on the cultural horizon of a vibrant locality. On Culture Night, in Glennon’s Pub there will be accounts of life in Allenwood, a photographic exhibition, display of early maps, an oral history records some songs and lots more.
